Recruitment and Selection Process

Train Shetland receives applications from school leavers and other individuals looking for vocational training and employment opportunities. We also receive requests from local employers seeking to recruit new trainees. We pass on copies of the completed application forms to employers and they contact applicants directly for interview.

We do not place trainees with employers. It is the employers who select their new employee. When we are notified by the employer of the trainee name and start date, we will arrange an induction meeting at the workplace and set out an individual learning plan for the trainee.
All submitted application forms will be retained on file (until 31/12/10) for distribution to employers as specific vacancies arise.
