You will be employed in a local nursery. Typical duties will include: craft activities; reading stories; playing games; making snacks etc. You will be part of a team which is responsible for the children’s care, learning and development.

Description:

You will be required to attend monthly tutorials at Shetland College and must provide evidence that you are competent to SVQ level 3 standards.  Your assessor will assess you in the workplace and you will complete your porfolio of evidence using an e-portfolio.  As part of the Modern Apprenticeship you will also need to achieve the required core skills.

Duration:

The Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship may take up to two years to complete.

Qualifications you will acquire:

• Modern Apprenticeship in Children’s Care Learning and Development consisting of:
• SVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development
• Core Skills

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

• SVQ L2/NC/HNC Early Years or 1 year relevant work experience
• A Higher or credit Standard Grade pass in English is desirable
• A mature outlook and willingness to work as part of a team are essential
• Applicants must be physically able for the range of practical tasks and have a pleasant and caring manner
• A good level of personal hygiene is required
