Typical duties include: working on drawings and plans – mostly computer aided draughting; measuring sizes and collating information; surveying; meeting with contractors; work on specifications for plans e.g. drainage, electrical; working with planning applications; and administrative tasks such as spreadsheets and databases. Work is mainly office based with surveying work on site. Description: Trainees currently attend video conferencing at Shetland College one day each week over the college terms and study one HNC unit at a time. The HNC Architectural Technology is made up of 12. Units including; Site Administration, CAD, Building Materials - selection and deterioration, Services in Large Buildings, Construction Technology, Drawing and Detailing.
