Fabrication and Welding Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship

Employment will be with local engineering companies within the field of manufacture.

Duties will include the measuring, marking out, cutting (mechanical and gas), shaping, assembly, welding of a variety of engineering materials (aluminium, steel etc), using different welding methods.

Description:

You will attend NAFC Marine Centre (one 9-week , oneĀ 10-week and one 11-week block) leading to an SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operation and a National Certificate. Level 2 units include working safety, use of technical information, marking out, fitting, machining and welding. NC units include maths, computing, assembly skills, maintenance, pneumatics, hydraulics, health & safety, engineering maths and C.I engines.

The qualification awarded will be Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 and National Certificate in Engineering Fabrication and Welding.

Duration:

This programme will take approximately four years to complete resulting in a SVQ Level 3 ModernĀ  Apprenticeship.

Delivery:

  • Block release to NAFC Marine Centre
  • Workplace assessments
  • Compilation of Portfolio of Evidence
  • Report writing

  • SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • SVQ Level 3 Fabrication and Welding
  • Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering
  • NC in Engineering Practice

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally applicants should have good Standard Grades in subjects such as Maths, Physics, Graphical Communications, and Craft and Design
  • Good co-ordination and dexterity is essential
  • Applicants must be physically able for the range of practical tasks involved
  • A mature outlook and willingness to work as part of a team are essential
